Questions to Consider:
- Most of all, what I'd like for you to do is read the sermon text together as a family prior to corporate worship. Do that, pray it, soak in it, discuss it as friends, as spouses, as parents. Some questions to help:
- In 38:1, how does the Lord approach Job? What is His cover? Is that what you'd expect?
- In 38:2-39:30, the Lord begins to address Job. How does He initially do this (v. 2-3)? What's His subject throughout? Is this also surprising?
- In 38:4-21, what aspect of creation does the Lord highlight? What about 38:22-38? What about 38:39-39:30? When was the last time you took a tour of the universe, or just got outside? What does creation speak of our God?
- In 40:1-5, we begin to see the effect of this address in Job. What's his initial reaction? Do you find it amazing that this man in this suffering is brought to this response this quickly simply by God's lecture on a few things in creation? Have we appropriately considered the power of God's testimony (in creation) for our sorrowing souls? What actually contents Job? These sights of creation or the sight of God in creation?
