Prepare

Questions:

  1. Read 1 Peter 1:3-9 throughout the week. As an encouragement to family worship and personal heart preparation, use the questions that follow:
  2. Who is the original cause of our salvation (1:3)? From Whom does all our blessedness flow? What is the instrumental cause of the new birth and our living hope? How are each tied to the resurrection of Christ?
  3. What is the living hope? How does Peter describe it or not describe it (1:4)? Is it secured to us? Are we secured for it? How does Peter say this (1:4-5)?
  4. How is this effective in securing us amid our trials in this world? Does Peter specify the kind of trials we might face? Why or why not? Is there a divine purpose overriding our trials and griefs? What is it (1:7)? How do our trials become reasons for more rejoicing? Consider also Acts 5:40-41.
  5. While we wait to see Jesus, must we wait to love Him and believe in Him (1:8)? And how does our present relationship and fellowship with Him lend itself to assurance about the future expectation we have in Him? What is that expectation (1:9)? Are these three joys securing for you amid any and all griefs for Christ? Ask the Lord to make them so.
